In April, 2013, TTS MARINE set out to discover whether virtualisation could be achieved within the firm’s desired IT boundaries. One challenge was IT hardware and its integration with graphics-demanding design technology software. Then there was the challenge of Autodesk design technology software integration, with its unique licensing and deployment requirements in contrast to virtualising the firm’s office software.

Ultimately, TTS MARINE (Sweden) enlisted IMSCAD GLOBAL (UK). Together, they partnered in scoping, installing, and configuring the components, then implementing a successful application virtualisation and published desktop solution that is working for TTS MARINE with Autodesk Inventor software.

As the 3rd largest City Council in the UK we wanted to look to move all staff to a new central office where everyone could work in one place and with the mission to reduce costs and offer staff a more flexible working environment.

Throughout January and February 2012 a trial of a virtualised AutoCAD system was carried out by our Environment and Property Services staff. A number of system configurations were tested and measured against two main criteria:

Was the user experience satisfactory?
Would a scaled up implementation of the system be cost effective?

The conclusion of the trial is a recommendation that the pilot was a success and a virtualised AutoCAD service with a group of around 80-90 staff from the two departments is both cost effective and that users where pleased with the AutoCAD performance.

IMSCAD deployed a 400+ user Citrix infrastructure to Benoy Architects across their EMEA offices.

In June 2012, Environmental Science Associates (ESA) set out to discover whether virtualisation could be achieved within the firm’s desired parameters of a reliable, cost effective, and functional solution.

For the better part of a year, the firm encountered blind alleys and disappointments before finding a virtualisation solution.

One overarching challenge ESA faced throughout this process was IT hardware and its seamless integration with graphics-demanding design technology software. Another hurdle was Autodesk design technology software integration, with its unique licensing and deployment requirements in contrast to virtualising the firm’s office and accounting software.

Ultimately, ESA enlisted Ideate Consulting and its strategic ally, IMSCAD. Together, they partnered in scoping, installing, and configuring the components, then implementing a successful desktop virtualisation project that is working for ESA with Autodesk design software, and specifically with Civil 3D.
